Spiritual Life

Eucharist, Holy Communion, The Precious Body and Blood, and the Lord’s Supper are all different ways of talking about the great mystery of the Presence of Christ under the form of bread and wine. This is, in all appearances, a very simple act that we do; the reception of the “Wholeness of Christ.” Yet, there is so much more going on. “You come to me and unite Yourself intimately to me under the form of nourishment. Your Blood now runs in mine, Your Soul, Incarnate God, compensates mine, giving courage and support. What miracles! Who would have ever imagined such!”- St. Maximilian Kolbe. If we do not prepare the soil of our hearts to see this, we might very well miss the deeper reality we seek. Our eyes alone are not capable of seeing this deeper truth; our touch or taste cannot know this to be either. It is only our well-formed hearts that can see the reality of Christ we receive. Our preparation for this holy union always involves prayer and the Word of God. The Word of God transforms our hearts in preparation for communion. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Mt. 5:8) Deacon Tom

The Spirituality of Grief

On the last monday of each month, unless it is a holiday, the Spirituality of Grief will meet. We will be discussing the issues surrounding grief and how God calls us into a deeper relationship through this. There will be time to share and discuss how we can use grief for our own healing. Grief is not something we must get rid of, but rather something that can help transform our lives. We can know God through our pain, joy through and even our grief. The group meets from 1pm until 2:30pm. The group is always open to new members and there is no committment of time required, only a sincere spirit in Christ. Please contact me if you have any questions. Deacon Tom
